"Just Science" showcases the recently published user-friendly video map of climate change by the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) study. The application offers a visually engaging, color-coded world map illustrating the evolution of the Earth's land temperature from 1800 to 2009. Utilizing monthly data from various local recording stations, it creates a global representation in red, green, and blue, depicting temperature deviations from historical averages.

The inclusion of temperature data from over 39,000 distinct stations worldwide — five times more than past studies — sets BEST apart. Ranging from ancient handwritten British logs dating back to 19th-century naval voyages to up-to-date digital monitoring stations, rigorous calibration ensures accuracy.
Motivated to address prevalent criticisms from both public and scientific quarters regarding existing global surface temperature records as a pivotal climate change indicator, the Novim Group (www.novim.org) spearheaded and funded the BEST study (www.berkeleyearth.org) to undertake a fresh scientific evaluation of global climatic shifts.
